The International Eilat Bird Festival 2012

The 6th Festival will take place from March 25th-April 1st 2012

Organized by the Israel Ornithological Center of the SPNI, the spring migration festival brings together birders from the world over for an unforgettable week during the peak of spring migration in southern Israel. Visitors are free to choose from several free guided daily tours to the best sites and enjoy an interesting evening program of lectures and presentations.

More than 220 species were seen by festival visitors during the 2011 festival week. These included specialties like Black bush Robin, Thick-billed, Temminck's, Bimaculated and Bar-tailed Larks and 9 species of Sylvia Warblers including 2 Menetrie's.

Hume's Owls, Pharaoh Eagle Owls and Nubian Nightjars put on a show and Macqueen's Bustards, 5 species of Sandgrouse and Coursers enlightened the dozens of birders on our tours. The best thing about the week was the assembly of birders from 14 nationalities.

Birdwatching

Besides the free daily tours several excellent Specialty tours will be on offer during the week, these include full day excursions to the Nizzana area and the Dead Sea, and an incredible night tour for both Nubian Nightjar and Hume's Tawny Owl.
