India has 88 threatened bird species.


India featured prominently among the ten countries in the world having the largest number of threatened species of birds. Brazil topped the list with 141 while India was ranked seventh with 88.

Of the 88 threatened species, 13 are categorised as Critically Endangered, 10 are Endangered and the remaining as Vulnerable.
