How old was the oldest Manx Shearwater, recorded in Britain/Ireland?


The oldest the oldest Manx Shearwater - Puffinus puffinus - recorded in Britain/Ireland – more than 50 years 11 months.

The Manx Shearwater (Puffinus puffinus) is a medium-sized shearwater  and the commonest shearwater in the north Atlantic and North Sea. They are long-lived. A Manx Shearwater was as of 2003/2004 the oldest known living wild bird in the world. It was ringed as an adult (at least 5 years old) in July 1953, it was retrapped in July 2003, at least 55 years old.
