2012-02-10 How old was the oldest Grey Heron recorded in the world?
The oldest Grey Heron - Ardea cinerea – was 37 years 6 months found dead in Denmark.
They are found
throughout temperate Europe, Asia and most of Africa.
It has become common in summer even inside the Arctic
Circle and along the Norwegian coast. It is a large bird, which is
largely grey above, and off-white below. Adults have a white head with a broad
black supercilium and slender crest, while immatures have a dull grey head. It
has a powerful, pinkish-yellow bill, which is brighter in breeding adults.
