Bird extinction – “Should we care?”


More than 130 species of birds have become extinct since AD 1500, mostly because of human actions. Today’s Red List update includes 189 species which are listed as Critically Endangered. On the very edge of extinction and without immediate action, many will not be here in ten years time.

Of course we should we care. It is highly likely that practically every new extinction is due to human actions.

What can we humans do?

We really can make a difference by supporting - The BirdLife Preventing Extinctions Programme.
